GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI)/Investigator (I), and following established policies and procedures, performs a variety of scientific, clinical research activities, and participates in carrying out research objectives, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and protocol guidelines. Provides methodological and technical support to the PI/I and serves as a liaison between the institution and the sponsor. Researches literature in the field. This position will be embedded within The SHE Rises (Transgenerational Social and Health Equity Research) Lab led by Dr. Martina Caldwell at Henry Ford Health. The SHE Rises Lab is dedicated to community-engaged research and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) in healthcare. Our work uses a combination of mixed methods, implementation science, and interdisciplinary academic-community collaboration to not only identify but also to address and overcome the barriers to positive health outcomes that marginalized populations face. Our research focuses on a variety of topics, including:
The WE CARE (Women & Person-Empowered Community Access for Reproductive Equity) Intervention, which is a theory-informed, reproductive justice-centered program that provides education and decision support on preconception and contraception, preventative reproductive health and social needs screening and referrals, and care navigation using community health workers and digital health.
Lessons from “Black Twitter” During COVID-19, which aims to model the use of natural language processing (NLP) and rapid qualitative analysis (RQA) to explore the Black community’s perspectives on various COVID-19 topics. Our goal is to develop culturally relevant and actionable findings, recommendations, and strategies that can be applied to future health crises.
PAACT (Participatory Action for Access to Clinical Trials) 2.0, which is a participatory program that aims to increase the enrollment of Black/African American patients in cancer clinical trials. We will pilot the small-scale implementation of several strategies recommended by our community partners in PAACT 1.0.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in clinical research, biology, chemistry, nursing, psychology, or closely related field.
A Master's degree can be utilized in this position.
Requires a working knowledge of computer applications.
A working knowledge of research methodology, medical terminology and statistics preferred.
